Every journey begins with the first step and mine begins here! The flight for Amsterdam has been delayed and so I'm stuck here waiting to leave...
The departure lounge is an odd place, its a place where no-one wants to be. People are sitting, waiting, killing time on their mobile phones or eating and/or drinking. The designers have attempted to make the environment more pleasant, more appealing - the old world charm of the Brunel Bar inside a grey steel girdered box - but I doubt if anybody is fooled.
You can't see any aeroplanes from here which I think I'd prefer, this place is very claustrophobic...
